Eric Locke
My name is Eric Locke, and I run Eric’s Hobby Workshop. I make tutorials and videos that teach people fun techniques and cool information about painting, collecting miniatures, and building terrain so that they can have the most immersive and fun time possible with their minis.
I like working with The Army Painter because they are passionate about what they do, and approach everything from the perspective of hobbyists and fans of the miniature hobby first and foremost. They are putting into the world the products and ideas that they themselves want to see and use, and that's a wonderful thing. It helps that everyone I have interacted with at The Army Painter is cool and friendly as well. Since working with them, I have become very familiar with their line of products, and they have become an integral part of my work. Here are some of my current favourites:
"I recently created a method for painting stonework that uses Matt Black, White, and the Ochres and Tans Flexible Triad, specifically Tundra Taupe, which I really love. The high pigmentation and rich colour allows you to paint with highly thinned paints, but still get good coverage - resulting in some really lovely and organic looking finishes."
Flexible Triad: Ochres & Tans
- 6 x 18ml Warpaints Fanatic acrylic paint
- Ideal for desert and arid landscapes and creating weathering effects
- Makes colour choice easy
- Flexible Colour Triad with six colours ranging from deep and dark, to bright and light
"I recently used the Battlefield Razorwire extensively for a realistic trench warfare table that I made, and I love working with this product. Its relatively inexpensive, looks great at scale, and isn’t fragile or hard to work with like some other alternatives. It's easy to form into a coil and place, and adds a ton of character to any base or battlefield!"
Battlefield Basing: Battlefield Razorwire
Razorwire gives the effect of a war-torn setting - and is essential for any sci-fi or modern wargaming base. This steel wire, imitating razorwire gives the realistic effect of a war-torn setting. Ideal for 15mm & 28mm miniatures, military dioramas, railway sceneries & terrain model kit.
Razorwire length is 4meter.
"Warpaints Fanatic Dark Rust and Fresh Rust have quickly become a mainstay of my work, and are behind my new favourite method of creating a fast and attractive scheme for bases. I simply apply thinned layers of the two rust tones over a black basecoat, and the result is a grim and gritty wasteland that fits any dystopian setting beautifully."
Warpaints Fanatic Effects: Fresh Rust
The Warpaints Fanatic Effects: Fresh Rust is a fresh rusty orange effect that dries matt and features small particles for realistic texture.
