Building Your Warpaints Fanatic Collection

Building Your Warpaints Fanatic Collection

There’s no denying it, the industry-leading Warpaints Fanatic range is a big deal. Like, it’s really big. Huge in fact. 216 paints in total!

With 27 different Flexible Triads to pick from (each with 6 paints), as well as 18 Metallics, 18 Effects, and 18 Washes, there’s almost no end to the possibilities for mixing and matching colours. You’d be hard-pressed to run into a painting situation where the solution wasn’t somewhere in the Warpaints Fanatic range. Such a massive assortment of paints does provide one conundrum, however – what's the best way to build your collection?

Luckily, The Army Painter has a solution – several in fact!

While we sell all the paints individually, as well as in Flexible Triad bundles, we also offer a selection of box sets, each designed to cater to a different type of hobbyist. Just starting out? Well, the aptly named Fanatic Starter Set is for you! Want to splurge a little more and get some of the most popular colours? The Fanatic Most Wanted Set has you covered. Looking to establish a sizable and varied selection of paints, along with a handy way to store all of them? Look no further than the Fanatic Mega Set! Ready to jump in with both feet? Then go big with the 102 paint (and dragon) laden Fanatic Wargamers Set!

Now, those are all great starting points, but what about when you’re ready to add even more paints to your supplies? Our ingenious paint-gineers have cleverly designed all of these box sets to work in conjunction with each other, allowing you to mix and match several of the different combinations with limited overlap in repeating colours. This way you can build your collection all while taking advantage of the savings and convenience of the various box sets. To make it even easier for you, we’ve gathered a few of our favourite combos starting with the Fanatic Starter Set or the Fanatic Mega Set as your base point!

The Dipit

You’ve picked up the Fanatic Starter Set and have fallen in love but want to build your collection out a little slower - just dipping in if you will. Then "The Dipit" combo is for you! The Fanatic Starter Set plus the Fanatic Most Wanted Set gives you 32 unique paints, with the only overlapping colour being the Warpaints Fanatic Brush-On Primer and you can never have too much primer for your miniatures. Speaking of minis, this combo gets you both the Knight and the Goblin Warchief – natural enemies and a great start to any collection.

The Booster

Are you looking to start a bit larger? Then "The Booster" is where you want to be. The Fanatic Mega Set is great on its own, starting you off with 50 paints, a brush, and a paint station all for an amazing price, but when you enhance it with the Fanatic Most Wanted Set you boost those numbers to 70 unique paints, an extra brush, and a mini to boot! The only duplicates you get across these two sets are Warpaints Fanatic Basilisk Red and Onyx Skin, both darker colours within their Flexible Triads, so perfect for some extra shadows.

The Power Gamer

Okay, now we’re starting to move into some more serious territory. You’ve got the Fanatic Starter Set, and you’ve decided it’s time to kick things into high gear! No slow-growing this collection for you. You’ve got places to be, games to win, and minis to paint. Enter "The Power Gamer". By adding the Fanatic Wargamer Set to the Starter you have 110 unique paints, with only Warpaints Fanatic Matt White, Matt Black, and Leather Brown repeating between the two - all staples of a painting collection and sure to be used up in no time flat. Not only that, but now your noble Knight can face off against the raging behemoth that is Durkar the Sovereign Serpent from Archon Studio, complete with an extra brush to do battle across the painting desk.

The Full Fanatic

You’re all in - nothing stands between you and your dream of owning as many Fanatic paints as possible! Well then, step right up to "The Full Fanatic". Comprised of the Fanatic Mega Set and the Fanatic Wargamer Set, this dynamic duo gives you 149 unique colours, with only three overlapping paints, Warpaints Fanatic Matt White, Matt Black, and Aqua Alchemy. Once again, the trusty staples of a white and black paint, as well as a lovely turquoise, Dipit’s favourite colour! With the mighty power of the painting station and Durkar the Sovereign Serpent combined and over half of the entire Warpaints Fanatic range, nothing is stopping you from conquering that pile of unpainted minis that haunts all our hobby rooms. From here the perfect expansion point for even more Fanatic paints are our Flexible Triad bundles, letting you build your collection with the colours that matter most to you.

Which combo suits your needs and desires most? Are you The Dipit, The Booster, The Power Gamer, or The Full Fanatic?
